Get out of the city. Get on the bike. And go...! Where? Anywhere. It's possible to ride for hours and hours – on all manner of terrain, all of which is ideal for cycling – in a place like Wagga Wagga. The local council has created a bike path network, and an impressive "Cycling Complex" in nearby hills of Pomingalarna, that begs to be ridden. So, during the Christmas holidays of 2023, that's exactly what I did. With no plan but glorious weather, I set off on a magical mystery tour on my gravel bike. I'd see plenty of wildlife, ride great roads, cycleways, as well as a BMX track, MTB trail, and velodrome. And then, after saying g'day to a few kangaroos, I'd get some exercise and take in the sights on a fantastic 100km ride in the country. Went for a ride. To the north. After one down-and-up along Bobbin Head Road in Ku-Ring-Gai Chase National Park – with most of the 'traffic' fellow cyclists – I decided to just keep going down and up, down and up... etc, until the call to get back home came. That's what I did. I collected plenty of footage along the way and I think it is a great showcase of a great place to ride a bike. This is the story of my ride from Saturday morning 13 April 2024. It's a destination I've been to many times but the ride from Sydney to West Head will never get old. When you have stunning weather, calm conditions on the road – as was the case in Sydney early on Easter Sunday – and a turnaround as beautiful as the lookout in the Ku-ring-gai Chase National Park, it's pretty much perfect. Cycling as it ought to be..! Beautiful, scenic, therapeutic, enjoyable and safe. This is the story of my ride from 31 March 2024. Taking a different direction and a new view as part of a little GoPro experiment. This is a ride to remember. It wasn't long, but it was absolutely enjoyable from start to finish – from Mill Cabin (by Trent Lowe and Niki Fisher, near Crackenback) along the Thredbo Valley Track to Bullock Flat... and back.
