Alex Morgan photo diary (part 03)
Our intrepid young world champion/student/reporter checks in like the professional he is. For the third week in a row, Alex Morgan has lived up to his promise of sending a catalogue of shots as part of a weekly diary for RIDE. The brief was minimal: just show us what you get up to in your first season in the senior ranks. A month ago, he won a gold medal in the team pursuit and finished fourth in the individual pursuit at the world championships. In part three, he squeezes in a few more rainbow jersey shots and generally behaves like most healthy 18-year-old blokes in Australia…

“Photoshoot for the local paper. Surprised my modelling career hasn’t taken off yet.”
“Inside the shed that houses the family bikes. (From left to right): fixie (mine), Scott (mine), BT (mine), Fuji (brother’s, my old bike), Ridley (dad’s, my old bike), ‘megabike’ (other brother’s, my first race bike, was originally dad’s), misc mountain bikes & CKT track bike (dad’s, my old bike).”
“Still got a lot of work to catch up on!”
“First pair of bike shoes, pretty sure they were my Uncle’s.”
“My name, my bike.”
“Training cassette! 11 – 28…”
“Some personal touches.”
“Just a few doping control forms I’ve collected over the years.”
“Got a heap of these for my 18th birthday (over 8 months ago). Haven’t used them and still have 90 hours of driving to do before I can even attempt at getting my license! Considering I got my Ls when I was almost 17 I think it’s fair to say I haven’t done a lot of driving.”
“Pro cycling manager. Hugo, my brother, plays it all day long!”
“Training program I wrote for my 13-year-old brother Hugo. He’s keen!”
“Little gift to Scott McGrory to thanks him for all his support. I’ll be giving out quite a few more of these to people that have supported me. Stay tuned!”
