RIDE #55 Round Table – Champione XCR
This is the bike that received more commentary during construction than any other, or so it seemed. Every visitor to the office seemed compelled to pick up this bike with a stainless steel frame, touch it, and ask about it… “why has it got 10-speed Campagnolo?” That’s what the distributor wanted. It was a curious spec that helped bring the weight down (to 6,915g for all but the pedals) and it offered ride characteristics that were vastly different to what seems like a relatively ‘standard’ offering of contemporary carbon-fibre frames.
Commentary by Greg Chalberg, Alex Malone, Rob Arnold and Shane Lovejoy.
