Custom built bike reviews – from the archives

In RIDE #61 there is a feature about the benefits of custom-made bicycles by Colin O’Brien. “Let’s get in early by clarifying: this is not a retro-grouch dissertation,” he states. “No one’s suggesting you turn up on race day with a gleaming, chrome-lugged throwback, complete with fenders and racks. There will be no derogatory “plastic bike” remarks, no mention of down tube shifters, and absolutely no nonsense about ‘soul’.” He does, however, conclude that there’s good reason to visit a builder and go through the process of building something for you.
