Getting a fix… in San Luis.
After suffering debilitating withdrawal for a few weeks, I thought my symptoms could be controlled… just to clarify, I’m talking about my addiction to cycling.
Yes, I wanted to ride but over the course of those weeks I had managed to stop being restless and irritable without my bike. I had even gone to… the gym! What a sight it must have been, all 63kg of me wandering aimlessly around a gym. Not sure what to do, I did everything and in the end, nothing at all.
Well, cycling was far from out of my system. Instead it was dormant, waiting for the right time to capture all my energy once again. As it turns out, I caught the cycling bug as soon I hit the tarmac at San Luis Airport. Far from crippling me though, cycling has liberated me, I can now indulge guilt free.
As I write, a crowd is gathering at San Luis airport where Alberto Contador and his Saxo Bank team is due to arrive soon (both the Haedo brothers, being Argentinian, are already here). My day started earlier though and I’ve been able to see the native cycling culture by attending a Masters, Womens and Youth race in La Punta, about 15 minutes from the centre of San Luis.
Here are some pictures from the morning.
