We take a break from the Tour de France to bring you a collection of images by Wei Yuet Wong from the Giro Rosa, won by world champion Marianne Vos last weekend. The professional women’s peloton will soon wind its way around a circuit on the Champs-Elysées in Paris in advance of the Tour’s arrival in the French capital. La Course by Le Tour de France makes its debut in 2014 and it’s another reminder of the growing interest in this aspect of our sport…

Mention cycling in July and most people, even the casual cyclists, will know about Le Tour. It has become so massive that the attention for cycling peaks in July. That can be a good thing, or a bad thing. The Giro Ciclistico d’Italia Femminile, or Giro Rosa, also takes place in July. It runs for 10 stages, and starts almost the same time as Le Tour. At this time, most of the media attention, and the spectator attention is on Le Tour. Little wonder that not many know about the Giro Rosa.

The 2014 edition is the 25th edition, and marks a quarter-century milestone. It is an exciting time for women’s cycling, and with La Course at Le Tour this year, and the Women’s Cycling Week initiative, hopefully more women’s racing will be seen.
