The online galleries of our ‘Bikes of the Pro Peloton’ feature from RIDE #67 continues. In this, the 10th instalment of the WorldTour bikes posts, we have a look at the Canyon Aeroad CF SLX of Juan José Lobato of the Spanish Movistar team.

It doesn’t take long for the rumour mill to start churning in the bike trade and it’s no secret that the German company, Canyon, has plans to begin distribution in Australia. The search for a local general manager is on and it shouldn’t be long before we see the bikes that are used by both Movistar and Katusha on sale in Australia… don’t, however, expect it to be through the usual channels as Canyon has established itself as an online brand.

Even though there was a famous win by an Australian on board one of Canyon’s bikes five-and-a-half years ago, it hasn’t been possible to by the brand locally. In 2009, Cadel Evans won his world title on a custom-painted Canyon but Lobato’s bike is entirely different. It’s an attractive aero frame in arguably the best colour scheme of the pro peloton…! (Find out more about the Canyon bike of Movistar, see p.112 of RIDE #67 – on sale now.)
