It was a representation of the changing of the guard for Australian cycling. The new generation ahead of the pioneering one: Rohan Dennis first, Cadel Evans second in a race that has matured into a fair dinkum contest and a great a spectacle. The riders came to race. The fans came to see the action… and ride.
