It was a mark Bridie O’Donnell was confident she could pass: 46.273km in an hour was the standard. Molly van Houweling had done that last year as one of a sequence tackling the prestigious world hour record in 2015.
The American’s record has been broken by a 41-year-old Australian.
O’Donnell rode a Cervélo track bike with a few special features (and we’ll examine these in detail in the coming days) in front of a big, passionate crowd at Adelaide’s Super-Drome.
Kevin Anderson was trackside for the record-breaking ride. Below is a gallery of images featuring the new Queen of the Hour, Bridie O’Donnell.
