The Japan Cup. A festival of cycling at the end of a long season. A line-up of star riders. A massive crowd. A carnival atmosphere. A wealth of manga of cyclists pinned up along the roadside. An opportunity to reflect on a long year while entertaining the polite spectators who are thrilled to see the stars of the sport ply their trade. The winner, Nathan Haas, explained in an interview with CyclingNews: “There is no race in the world like the Japan Cup. My room is full of headscarfs, flowers, engraved chop sticks, beers and bookmarks. It’s crazy. The fans are the nicest fans in the world, they come with presents, asking for signatures. Maybe a note to European fans for 2015. If you want bottles or caps, bring us green tea Kit Kats!”

The criterium was on Saturday, the road race on Sunday. There were two Australian winners… Here is a collection of photos from the race on Sunday.
