And on the sixth day, they would rest… But for the opening stanza of 2017 there was a flurry of activity on the road racing scene.
After the Mitchelton Bay Cycling Classic, contested on the first three days of the year, came the national championships – first the criteriums in Ballarat, and then the time trials.
Behind the lens and on the ground for RIDE Media was passionate cycling photographer Jean-Pierre Ronco. He has selected a number of images from the time trial events that were contested on Thursday 5 January 2017.
The elite titles were won by Rohan Dennis and Katrin Garfoot who finished well ahead of their nearest rivals.
