It’s a short race today but there’ll still be adverts during the coverage. Take a moment to look back at stage 12, as captured by Leon van Bon.

At the Tour de France in 2017, RIDE Media is working with Dutch photographer, Leon van Bon. The former rider – and winner of two Tour stages during his riding days – is now capturing the atmosphere and emotion of the race.

You’ll find a portfolio of images in #RIDE76, due out later this year, but we are sharing some of van Bon’s work during the race.

The events of stage 12 provided some interesting talking points, including a reversal of a jury’s decision to penalise three riders for taking water (from spectators) in the final kilometres of a mountainous stage.

The lead has changed and, for the first time since Team Sky started wearing the yellow jersey (back in 2012), a rider from another team has inherited the race lead from the British outfit…

Below are a collection of photos by Leon van Bon to show some of the emotion from the first of two stages in the Pyrenees.
