Australian sports fans would ordinarily be looking in shops and mailboxes for their favourite cycling magazine of the year. If things were normal in 2020, the Official Tour de France Guide would be on sale this week… but the race has been delayed 63 days. Here’s an update on this year’s ‘Tour Guide’.
Delivery of the Official Tour de France Guide (Australia / NZ edition) usually happens after the long weekend at the start of June. This year, we are in the early phase of production and the magazine is still taking shape. The good news from France is that racing will soon resume… and, in Australia, RIDE Media will soon begin taking pre-orders for the annual souvenir edition of our Tour Guide.
The 107th Tour de France was due to start in Nice on 27 June 2020 but the date of the Grand Départ has been pushed back to 29 August 2020.
It has been months since any major international cycling competition has taken place on the road, but restrictions imposed because of the pandemic are easing and racing is set to begin again shortly.
RIDE Media has published the Official Tour de France Guide in Australia since 2003 and that annual tradition is set to continue in 2020. We are liaising regularly with ASO, organisers of the Tour, and L’Equipe, publishers of the French edition of the Tour Guide.
We don’t yet have details on the exact on-sale dates for the magazine, but work is underway to ensure another quality production with all the features you have come to expect from Australia’s largest and most popular cycling magazine each year.
For the moment, RIDE Media has refrained from accepting pre-orders for the Tour Guide as we formalise details with our partners in France, wait for confirmation of the exact route (which is expected to remain the same as what was presented in Paris last October) and make the requisite alterations to content.
In the coming weeks, we’ll keep readers up to date with the production and, of course, let you know when you can place your order.
