When Australia first hosted a round of the UCI WorldTour, the winner of the opening stage was Mark Renshaw. This is the bike he raced on in 2008.
With ‘antenna’ cables, a fitting that enabled riders to fasten their heart rate monitor watch to the handlebars, and an integrated seatpost (with a modicum of adjustment), this bike by one of the pioneers of carbon-fibre frames was state-of-the-art in 2008.
When Mark Renshaw looks at in 2021, it raises both a dry smile and a collection of memories.
RIDE Media will be presenting a series of articles and videos about the bikes he raced on during a pro career that spanned 18 years. He has retained many of his favourites and they now hang from the ceiling of his bike shop in Bathurst, NSW.
