Ride Media: Update
Sydney, 17 March 2026
The ride began with a magazine in 1998 and on the cover it stated: “A Celebration Of Cycling”. My passion for bike riding served as a catalyst for me to begin a media business with cycling as the central theme. Ride Media was created 28 years ago. I was 28 years old. And so, I can proudly say, I have been the Publishing Editor for half of my life.
Today it’s different. Ride Media will be continuing in 2026 and beyond, and while I will continue to be involved in every aspect of the business, I’ll do so under new ownership.
Adventure Entertainment, an independently-owned Australian media company based in Sydney, has acquired Ride Media and it’s time for me to switch job titles, from Publisher to Editor-At-Large.
The first major assignment together is a familiar one for me: production of the Official Tour de France Guide (2026 Australian edition). Due for release in mid-June, this collectable annual magazine has become a feature of the season for sport fans across the country. First published by Ride Media in 2003 as part of the celebrations for the Centennaire edition of the TDF the ‘Tour Guide’ will continue this year and beyond, and now it will be with Adventure Entertainment as the publisher.
The partnership is an arrangement that will ensure the ongoing success of a media company that, I’m extremely pleased to say, has built a large and loyal following, and even introduced many to the joys of the cycling life.

There are many people to thank for being part of the adventure so far, including the many valued contributors, a long list of advertisers and, of course, the readers (and viewers) of the content that’s come from the first 28 years of Ride Media.
It would be possible to get all nostalgic and list some of the numerous highlights from my time as a small business owner in the media game. There were indeed rewards, plenty of them, but there were also challenges along the way. Ride began as a magazine at a time when media was evolving dramatically, and so was cycling.
Coverage of our sport was scant in 1998. In 2026 it’s a completely different story. There’s live vision of all the major races, many of them on free-to-air TV in Australia thanks to the ongoing commitment of our national broadcaster, SBS. And the cycling community here is larger and stronger than ever before.
It has been a little quiet on Ride Media’s site and social channels for a few months. I’ve been busy preparing for the handover to the new Publisher, Toby Ryston-Pratt, the founder of Adventure Entertainment, riding my bike, and collecting content. It’s now time to get some stories online again, do some editing, and share some more features and videos about cycling and all that makes it such a cool thing to do.
More about Adventure Entertainment’s acquisition of Ride Media
Riding a bike is something special. For me, once I started I couldn’t stop. Once a cyclist, I’ve often said, always a cyclist. This is what prompted me to begin Ride Media: to share the love about something wonderful, something universal, something that offers so much scope – for fitness, for travel, for fun… for adventure, for entertainment! And so, as I step away from the role of Publisher and into the buzz that comes with being part of a larger collective of passionate people sharing stories about some of the good things in life, I do so with a grin and a sense of satisfaction.
It’s been quite a ride. And I’m thrilled that it’s continuing.
