Brighter is better, at least that seems to be the approach by Rapha and EF Education First in 2019. A year ago, when the US company took over sponsorship of the Slipstream team, the corporate pink helped it become one of the most visible in the pro peloton.

In 2019, there is a new clothing supplier and a new aesthetic.

Until 12 January, the look of EF Education First Pro Cycling has remained a secret but on the day the team set off for its first public ride in the new colours, RIDE Media was on hand to get a few shots and talk to the riders about the “tie-dye” design by Rapha.

“When I look at my arm,” announced Michael Woods, “I feel ’80s.”

The Canadian gushed about the new look of his team kit. Of course it’s bright, that’s part of the EF aesthetic.

Electric pink is present on the jersey but the team bikes have more subdued purple highlights. Still, it won’t be difficult for fans to see these riders coming – they stand out from the crowd.

One thing to note about the team kit designs of 2019 is that there is a common theme emerging: the fade of colours just above the waste – and EF Education First Pro Cycling also has this element to the jersey design this year.

Have a look at the video (above) and listen to what Lachlan Morton has to say about his new outfit.
