Talking cycling – interviews at the Tour (stage 2)
You don’t always have to talk about the race when you’re at the Tour. At the start of stage two, Rob Arnold bumped into a few people who like to talk about cycling… so we did just that.
It’s like the podcast you’re having when you’re not having a podcast. Rather, this SoundCloud file is a trio of interviews from before the start of stage two of the 2018 Tour de France.
Rob Arnold speaks with the trainer/coach of Mathew Hayman and Caleb Ewan, Kevin Poulton, who explains some of his history with Zwift and what kind of approach is taken by his riders in advance of a race like the Tour de France.
Manuel Quinziato discusses life after racing… the Italian retired from competition in 2017 and he’s at the Tour this year as a rider agent. He was happy that he wasn’t in the peloton for stage one and is glad that he’s chosen the right moment to move on to the next phase of his professional life.
And Doug Ryder talks to us about sprinting and climbing, about Mark Cavendish and Serge Pauwels… and a few other things relating to his team, Dimension Data.
