Given the option of topics today, the one I’ve selected is: what I see on my ride, and what comes to mind as I pedal along on a beautiful Tuesday morning…

This is the story of a ride today.

– A blog and video by Rob Arnold

There are plenty of things I’d like to write about in relation to cycling right now. There is a collection of columns about the Tour de France and Tour de France Femmes avec Zwift in my mind that I still would like to share, and there’s lots more racing yet to come.

Thinking about cycling is habitual. It has been my job for over 30 years now, so it’s normal for my mind to wander from one race to the next – or, as has been the case for me of late, one comeback to riding after another – and make it feel important.

Cycling is important to me. I’ve been passionate about bike riding all of my professional life, and one thing that drives me is the quest to introduce others to what I find a true pleasure. Cycling is important to me, but it’s not everything. Still, a bike ride can sooth the soul and – even if you take a route you’ve ridden hundreds of times – it can all feel new again… each day, every ride.

I think about cycling. But when I’m riding, I think about many other things too.

The worlds have been in the back of my mind for years now, and they’re almost here. Wollongong, are you ready?!

It’s an exciting time, but every now and then other stories creep up on me. Something else was on my mind on the ride today, but I tried to jettison thoughts about some of the things that are unfolding at the moment. And the bike helps me do that, and many other things.

The clip linked above shows what I opted to talk about on my ride today: me, what I see, where I go, and what’s good about cycling. It reignites your soul.

My message today, as always: ride a bike, it’s a great thing to do.
