In the final stage of Tirreno-Adriatico 2020, a 10.1km TT, Ineos Grenadiers scored first, third and fourth places with Filippo Ganna, Rohan Dennis and Geraint Thomas, respectively.

We take a closer look at the bikes used by Ganna and Thomas and note a few equipment changes that have emerged…

 

Part 1: Geraint Thomas’ bike

Customised extensions for aerobars have been used for years but the brake levers on G’s bike at Tirreno are different…
While plenty of bike manufacturers have switched to disc brakes – on both road and TT bikes – Ineos Grenadiers still largely use bikes with rim brakes… although the Bollide frame’s integrated callipers are far from ‘traditional’.
Velon data for Geraint’s TT at Tirreno-Adriatico where he placed 4th to move up to 2nd on GC on the final day.

 

Part 2: Filippo Ganna’s bike

An Ineos Grenadiers tricolore jersey: the Italian national champion colours… en route to first place in the final stage of Tirreno-Adriatico.

One of the finest time trial specialists of this generation, Ganna has a relatively high position for his aerobars…
Data from the winner, Ganna was 8 seconds faster than Thomas over the final 2km of the TT yesterday…
