It was categorised as ‘Hilly’ and the terrain insisted on action from some of the big hitters. And that’s exactly what happened in the sixth stage of the 2022 TDF.

Before Tadej Pogacar collected his first stage win in the 2022 race, there was one last show of force by Wout van Aert, the Belgian who led GC as the Tour progressed from Denmark, through France and onwards to a Belgian start in Binche for the longest stage of the 109th TDF.
The undulations ‘inspired’ an impressive display by WvA (even if few could understand the logic behind his insistence on attacking) but it also heralded the end of his reign in the yellow jersey.
After a few interruptions in recent days (at RIDE Media HQ), it’s time to play catch up with the daily #ZacWilliamsGalleries.

Recreating a classic cycling photo…
Peter Sagan (above) was the winner of the previous Tour stage that finished in Longwy (the day before his disqualification from the 2017 race). This year, he was over five minutes behind the winner, Tadej Pogacar.
